thelma m. randall memorial scholarship

The Washington, D.C. Alumnae Foundation (WDCAF) established the Thelma M. Randall Memorial Scholarship in 2016.  Director Randall, a native of Texas and a graduate of Prairie View A&M University, will be remembered as a distinguished and dedicated member of the Board; serving as President and Treasurer. It is through an endowment and contributions from the Board of Directors and its community partners that the Foundation seeks to provide four scholarships annually of $1,000 to deserving high school seniors, undergraduate and/or graduate school students who meet the program qualifications.

The first award of the scholarship was in our fiscal year 2020-2021 and the first recipient is Ms. Aya Settles, a graduate of Benjamin Banneker Academic High School, with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.48.  Ms. Settles will be attending Spelman College in the Fall of 2021, majoring in Business Administration.  While in High School, she founded, developed, and implemented the “iSee Me Campaign” that helps girls who are struggling with self-esteem issues.  She launched and hosted her first “Sister2Sister” webinar in September 2020.  WDCAF awarded Ms. Settles with a $2,000 scholarship.

Collaborative Ventures

WDCAF builds partnerships that bring together non-profit organizations and community programs to leverage financial resources and expertise in pursuit of our commitment of supporting youth, elderly and families by “Investing In The Future Of Our Community.”

Collaborations have included the Annual Distinguish Men Cooking with the Deltas, which raised monies for community programs and scholarships.  WDCAF has awarded over $100,000 on behalf of the WDCAF,DST, Inc.
